I heard that you can find artifacts in ruins, but I have yet to find any. Can they only be found starting in a certain level of ruin? The highest I have been able to attack is level 4 and a few level 5s.

Game developped never told anything 'bout that but from my own experience:
You can find artifacts in any level of ruins.
There is a lot more probably to find a scroll than artifact.
The chance to find an artifact depends of ruin level.
I saw an calculation (from user saving result from 1000 ruins) and (if I my memory is good enough) you'll find artifact in one from 10000 r5. That's not 2 much don't you think?

Artifacts are mostly discovered in 5-6 lvl ruins, but not excluded 3-4*,
the biggest probability is with hero Strategist / Scout - with skill artifact hunter on lvl 5, + further
in the game you can activate some scroll + additional chance from clan castle, and yet the chance to find one is
very little. Previously with upper mention facts i had found 4 artifacts, lvl 1 from ruins 5 and 6.
With this hero you can find scrolls in almost every 5-6* ruin. Have fun.
