Where it is better to build 2nd and 3rd city as a knight. I mean built it in desert, steppe or what?

Hi all,

Is there requirement to capture slaves? i.e lets say one player has 100 salves can i just send some warrior and capture them? also is there way of capturing idle population from other people.
